4 Reasons to Choose a Wooden Watch

A wooden watch has so many benefits, and a lot of potential to be special, which makes it a no-brainer when choosing between a wood watch and a metal one.

There are a few reasons why wooden watches are awesome, whether the watch is for yourself or if you’re giving it as a gift.

Wood watches make the perfect gift for nature lovers, especially tree lovers, or simply a watch lover. Gifts made of wood help promote sustainable living, since wood is a renewable resource.

That makes wood watches super eco-friendly, and really, they’re just such a unique accessory.

Benefits of wooden watches

There are many reasons to love wood watches that include personal benefits as well as environmental.

Here’s some reasons why wooden watches are simply the best.

4 reasons to buy a wood watch instead of a metal one

1. Wood watches are more sustainable

One of the biggest benefits of wooden watches is that they are more sustainable than metal watches. That’s because wood watches use less energy to make compared to metal watches.

Also, wood is a renewable resource whereas metals are not. In 50 years, some metal supplies will likely be exhausted.

2. Wooden watches are hypoallergenic

Another important reason to choose a wooden watch is due to the fact that they’re hypoallergenic.

Many people in the world are allergic to different types of metal, but an all-natural wooden watch is, well, natural, so it won’t irritate your skin.

3. Each wood watch is unique

Why buy a mass-produced watch when you can choose a watch that’s completely unique? In a world filled with mass produced, fast fashion look-a-likes, having a unique wooden watch is special benefit.

Since no tree is the same, that means no wooden watch is the same. Also, not many people own a wood watch, making it even more unique!

4. Wooden watches are cheaper

Another huge benefit to wooden watches is they’re typically less expensive than metal watches. This is probably due to the fact that wood is a renewable resource that’s relatively easy to acquire.

The only downfalls of a wood watch

On the downside, wooden watches are not 100% waterproof. Which means you can’t take it in the shower with you or go swimming with it. Not a big deal whatsoever, but if you’re looking for a waterproof watch, a wooden watch is not the way to go.

Another thing to note is that wooden watches are not as durable as metal watches which means if it gets knocked, it may leave a small dent in the wood.

There are even more benefits to buying a wooden watch when you purchase one from WoodWatch. They sell eco-friendly wooden watches for men, for women and have unisex models as well.

Here are some reasons to choose WoodWatch for a wooden watch.

1. Made with sustainable wood

WoodWatch has many different types of watches using many different types of wood, including some of the most sustainable woods like olive, maple, and teak.

If you’re not sure which type of wood to go with, I’d recommend going with olive wood. (The wood I got!) It’s one of the hardest types of wood which is a great option should you be worried about dents.

Additionally, the color of olive wood is very neutral and matches well with many colors.

Fun fact: Olive trees are a symbol of peace, and were praised by the ancient Greeks.

2. Buying from WoodWatch also plants 3 trees

Another reason to choose WoodWatch for a wooden watch is that they also plant trees.

This wooden watch company has been planting trees since 2013, and they have since planted over 200,000 trees in collaboration with Trees for the Future.

They’ve planted trees in places like Cameroon, Kenya, and Tanzania, which means that Wood Watch is helping provide jobs to these communities.

Not only does this help raise people’s income, but it also positively impacts the earth by improving the soil quality with these new trees. The trees also help remove toxic gasses from the atmosphere and help restore biodiversity.

Fun fact: You can plant an extra tree with your order. For a small additional fee, you can donate an extra tree that will be planted in Bolivia, Costa Rica, or Uganda.

WoodWatch makes up for the carbon emissions created by their deliveries. In partnership with Trees for All, they do this by donating trees in the Smart Forests in Bolivia for every international delivery.

That means you don’t have to worry about the pollution your watch created to get shipped to you because WoodWatch is making up for that.

Additionally, their packaging is completely plastic-free. All of the packaging for the watch was made out of cardboard, along with some twine.

4. You can get the WoodWatch engraved

If you’re looking to buy a watch as a gift, a great way to make it more sentimental or romantic is to get it engraved. You can engrave up to 60 letters on the back of each WoodWatch.

Having an item engraved will always be one of the best ways to make a gift special. Getting an engraved watch is perfect for birthdays, Christmas, weddings, anniversaries, graduations and even corporate events.

Fun fact: wood is the traditional gift choice for 5-year anniversaries.

So if you’re looking for a gift for your husband or wife for a 5th year anniversary, a wooden watch is a great option.

P.S. WoodWatch also sells wooden sunglasses and wooden BlueBlock glasses and these can be engraved as well!

WoodWatch also has an option to get the pinewood box engraved with up to 450 characters, adding even more sentimentality to the gift. This will make unboxing or watching your loved one unpack their gift extra special.

6. You can recycle your WoodWatch afterwards for a 30% discount

Customers can return their WoodWatch for recycling and give its suitable components another chance. The customer will then get rewarded with a 30% discount on a brand new WoodWatch as a thank you.

To take part in the WoodWatch Recycle Program, all you have to do is shoot them an email when the time comes. With proper care, wood watches can last for decades, so it may be a while before you have to recycle yours.
